London & South East Regional Group

The London and South East (L&SE) group covers an area with a combined population of over 14 million people, over half of that just in London, a very congested corner of the UK! As well as London, the area includes the major towns of Brighton, Ashford, Canterbury, Guildford, Chelmsford and Colchester.

The region is home to most of the country’s biggest and busiest rail stations, and two of the biggest airports at Heathrow and Gatwick. It also includes the world’s oldest underground railway system, the London Underground. Not surprisingly then, transport is one of the biggest employers in the region and the focus of many human factors projects here. Many of the UK’s human factors consultancies have London offices, and this is reflected in the catchment size of the L&SE group which is one of the largest in the UK.

The group restarted in 2015 after a brief hiatus. Events so far have been evening presentations, book-ended by drinks and a chance to meet up with colleagues.

We are also looking for opportunities for site visits in the area, as we know they are popular as regional events.
