This month’s programme looked at modeling processes based on ‘mock-ups’ that prevent ‘cock-ups’, ensuring positive and beneficial links between theoretical concepts in their journey towards practical application. Good ideas on paper often give birth to faulty designs.
For example, the cockpit design that presenter Ted Lovesey showed us only accommodated for humans who are categorised as being within the 5th percentile, but by simply rotating the layout, the design can now accommodate to the 95th percentile. His theme for the presentation was ‘It looks fine on paper – reality is a different concept’.
