For over 30 years Ergonomics & Safety Research Institute (ESRI) and its predecessor ICE Ergonomics has successfully carried out ergonomics research and consultancy. Since merging with its sister organisation HUSAT, it has now extended its areas of expertise to include interface design and user requirements specification. It aims for continual improvements in the health, safety, comfort and convenience of all people. The organisation is now Loughborough Design School.
Three main areas are targeted:
- Human Focused Design – applying ergonomics to real-world problems to ensure the continual improvement in safety, comfort and convenience for all.
- Transport Technology Ergonomics – providing ergonomics services to optimise the safety, comfort, convenience and efficiency of travellers and transport systems.
- Vehicle Safety – producing innovative, incisive and pertinent analyses to inform decision-making over specific safety issues, based on engineering, biomechanics, statistics and epidemiological perspectives.
